Now that the 2022 wedding season is winding down – at least for me as an officiant – I wanted to do a quick wrap-up and hat tip to the amazing brides and grooms, wedding coordinators, and venues that I worked with this year.
It’s a joy to share in these special days with the couples. It’s a collaborative effort where they tell me their stories and inside jokes to share, and I present them in a fun, pre-approved delivery that catches the guests pleasantly off guard.
All my venues this year were mostly outdoor – nothing to do with rona restrictions, but rather just enjoying the beautiful nature backdrops – including poolside, nature parks, beaches, golf courses, gardens, backyards, barns, castles, an airport, a hospital, and gorgeous event spaces.
“Laurie was the perfect officiant for us. We aren’t religious and like to laugh a lot. She made our ceremony fun and funny. Our guests are still talking about it.”
“We loved that! I have never been to a wedding where we laughed so much. Your style definitely matched [the couple].”
“OMG I died when you told that story of how they met. Sooo funny – and true. Something good didn’t happen back then, so something better could happen today. Loved your delivery. Out of all the weddings I’ve attended, this is the most memorable and enjoyable.”
“I’ve seen you do stand-up comedy at LaughFest. When I saw you standing in the gazebo, before [bride] walked down the aisle, I knew we were in for a treat.”
“Laurie, thank you so much for making our wedding perfect. I know we were challenging to work with as we tried to make some decisions. You were so helpful and patient. Some of our single guests have asked for your information. Hopefully we’ll see you again at their weddings.”
2023 Wedding Season is Right Around the Corner
If you’re getting married in West Michigan and you need a wedding officiant for 2023, and you’re not looking for a religious ceremony, and you like to laugh, and don’t have a stick up your behind, learn more at FunnyLieLadyWeddings.com, then let’s talk.
p.s. I may not be the right fit for every couple – but hello, if you hire a comedian to marry you, you know what you’re getting. And since you tell me the stories to share, and you get to see the script ahead of time, there aren’t any surprises, at least not for you. It’s fun to see the reactions of your guests who aren’t expecting a non-traditional ceremony. Also, since we collaborate on the ceremony, you won’t need to worry about grandma having a cow by any unexpected nuggets.

Performing is in Laurie’s DNA. Comedian Laurie Ayers first hit the stage in 1968 with her tutu and tap shoes and has been performing ever since, showcasing her various talents from dance, playing musical instruments, acting, keynote speaking, corporate, clean stand-up comedy and presently as a Phyllis Diller tribute artist.
